F. Specifications – Standard Models
This section pro
vides general specifications that apply to all Mirion Technologies
(Canberra CA) Ltd. contamination monitors listed in Table 26 to Table 28. Specific details
for individual models are found later in the Specifications – Options appendix on page 329.
The GEM-5 is the flagship model in Mirion Technologies (Canberra CA) Ltd.’s line of
Gamma Exit Monitors. It provides power plants and nuclear facilities gamma detection
capability to monitor p
edestrians leaving areas of potential radioactive contamination.
User friendly - no user interface required during normal operation. Voice annunciator
guides individuals through the monitoring process. An audible alarm notifies individuals
of contamination and a new larger easy to see color LCD or touch screen LCD screen
readily displays contaminated areas. With the optional CRemote software, two-way radio
and one-way video communications are available.
For ease of setup, calibration and maintenance, access to the installed computer is
through a locked access door on the front of the monitor. Computer connections
inside this access door include an on/off switch, VGA port, and six USB p
orts.

1. Exceptional sensitivity via eight (8) identical large plastic scintillator detectors
(three per each side + one top + one bottom).
2. Large full color LCD or touch screen LCD display and annunciator lights.
3. Digitized voice prompts and visual prompts on the LCD or touch screen LCD
display.
4. Internal PC running Windows 7 Embedded Operating System.
5. PC-based electronics provide full self-diagnostics.
6. Fully LAN ready (networkable).
7. 25 mm (1 in.) lead ingot shielding provided for easy field installation.
8. Standard portal opening width - 61 cm (24 in.); other available inner widths
including:
GEM-5W80 (SCN 7063219), GammaExitMon, 80cm inner width
− same as standard GEM-5 (serial bus) except with inner width modified to
80 cm (31.5 in.)
