Excessive Background Out of Service
Figure 32 is displayed if the Excessive Background Rate setting is exceeded for any
detector and Excessive Bkg Rate is set to “YES” or “AUTO” in the F4 – Out of
Service Causes screen.
In this condition the HV is shut down to protect the detectors. If set to “AUTO”
recovery mode then a Background Initialization is performed periodically as
determined by the Excessive Background In Service After setting in the F2 – Wait
Timeouts screen. The number of seconds remaining until the next Background
Initialization is shown in the lower left corner of the screen. The monitor remains in
service when the fault is no longer detected during Background Initialization.

Detector Contaminated Out of Service
Figure 33 on page 66 is displayed if any detection zone appears contaminated and
Detector Contaminated is set to “YES” or “AUTO” in the F4 – Out of Service Causes
screen. Also, the Detector Contamination Check setting on the F5 – Configuration
screen must be set to a non-“No” choice.
When the occupant exits after a contaminated event, the system performs a detector
contamination check while displaying the message “Please Wait Contamination
Check”, if Detector Contaminated is set to “YES” or “AUTO” in the F4 – Out of
Service Causes screen. If contamination is detected (i.e. any detection zone exceeds
the release alarm level) then the unit goes out of service and displays Figure 33 on
page 66. If the Detector Contaminated setting is “AUTO” then the unit continues to
recheck and returns to service if all zones show clean; a countdown timer in the
bottom left-hand corner of the screen displays the number of seconds remaining for
the current check. The detector contamination check is skipped if Detector
Contaminated is set to “NO” in the F4 – Out of Service Causes screen.
