Chapter 3 Principle of Operation
58 Gem-5 User’s Manual
A history of all Clean and Contaminated results is maintained in the Clean &
Contaminated Results Data Log RESULTS.CSV, if enabled. One line is
appended to the data log for each monitoring result. The data includes count rate data
for each detection zone as well as identification of the user (if the unit is equipped
with an ID system). When the file reaches its maximum size, the oldest data is
deleted. The Clean & Contaminated Results Data Log can be enabled in the F7
Data Log screen.
If the High Count Time Fault on the F4 Out of Service Causes screen on page 141
is triggered, it will appear on these screens as appropriate.
CLEAN Mode
If the net count rates for all detection zones are below their respective contaminated
alarm levels the occupant being monitored is considered CLEAN; both a spoken and
visual message (see Figure 28) stating this result are given. The occupant should
leave the monitor platform at this time.
If the occupant does not exit within the Repeat Voice Message Time (the default is 3
s), a “Thank You” spoken message is given. If any position sensor is still activated
after three more seconds, a “Please Exit!” announcement is made. These two
announcements alternate every 3 s until all sensors (excluding the approach sensor)
are deactivated. The monitor then returns to Ready mode and finally to Background
Update mode. See the Troubleshooting Guide in the chapter,
Diagnostics/Maintenance, if the above sequence continues indefinitely and no one or
nothing is occupying the monitor.
The Contamination Check Results Printout file RESULT… .TXT, which was
discussed at the end of Monitor Mode section above, includes count rates and alarm
set point data for all detection zones. This permits analysis of an unexpected Clean
result, when perhaps the monitor did not alarm when the occupant was carrying a
check source. See F3 Setup, F8 – Printout for the appropriate Auto Save
Occupant Check Results setting.
If the High Count Time Fault on the F4 Out of Service Causes screen on page 141
is triggered, it will appear on this screen as appropriate.
