Total Certificate Activity: shows the summed activity for both isotopes in a 2
isotope source.
Total Certificate Emission Rate: shows the summed emission rate for both isotopes
in a 2 isotope source.
Backscatter (%): If Certificate Emission Rate is present then pressing F6 will give a
default value that is Source Activity / Certificate Emission Rate = 2. If it is not
present then defaults are zero. This is intended for distributed Beta sources that have
significant backscatter.
Self-Absorption (%): If Certificate Emission Rate is present then pressing F6 will
give a default value that is Source Activity / Certificate Emission Rate = 2. If it is not
present then defaults are zero.
Source Activity: Equals Activity / Emission Rate multiplied by (Total) Certificate
Emission Rate, if non-zero, otherwise equals (Total) Certificate Activity. It is labeled
“Certificate Activity + Backscatter - Self Absorption” or “Certificate Activity” as
appropriate. This is the Source Activity value used when selecting Calibration
Source on the Calibration and Group Settings screens. It is automatically decay
corrected prior to use (see Current Visible Activity item on the Calibration screen).
Source Activity = Certificate Activity + Certificate Activity × Backscatter % -
Certificate Activity × Self Absorption %
Source Activity / Certificate Emission Rate: This is calculated from the values
above.
Current Source Activity: Decay corrected. This is used for calibration of detectors.
Current Emission Rate: Decay corrected.
F4 Out of Service Causes
The Out of Service Causes screen (Figure 64) settings control whether various fault
conditions stop operation as described in “OUT OF SERVICE Modeon page 62.
Whenever the monitor is taken out of service by a fault, the problem must be repaired
and then the error flags must be cleared (see on page 223) in order to return the unit
to service, unless the unit is in auto-recovery mode for that error, as explained below.
The line items that appear on the screen will reflect the configurable options
applicable to the particular model. Items greyed out are only available when
applicable to the model or option as set in the Ctrl+F10 Factory Setup Menu
screens.
