Description of the Normal Operation Phase
The controller enters in the Normal Operation Phase at the end of Learning Phase.
The amount of movement performed in the Normal Operation Phase is pre calculated
during the Learning Phase. The limit switchs during this phase is not used. The
controller will open or close the barrier according to the state of the J18 input. If the
input changes state while moving, the movement will stop and reverse direction. At
the opened and closed position while there is no movement the actuator is locked in
position by energizing an electromagnetic brake connected to J9, so that the barrier
cannot be moved.
If during closing the barrier an obstacle is detected the controller will reverse
movement and retry closing two times. If the obstacle is detected for third time the
controller will enter the Fault condition. The force excerpted on an obstacle is limited
to a safe value to prevent any injury or damage.
When an obstacle is detected during opening the barrier, the controller will enter the
Fault condition. In the Fault Condition Phase the controller shuts down the power to
the motor and the barrier can be moved freely. The fault message is sent to the main
computer. The Fault condition can be activated on purpose by pushing the service
switch. The Fault Condition is also entered in the case of malfunction of the
controller (for example short circuit detection).
Safety features
The board has the following safety features:
1. The absence (disconnection) or malfunction of the encoder will be detected and
the motor and brake will be shut down. The barrier will open due to gravity.
2. The motor outputs are short circuit protected. There is a latch-up protection on
the power bridge (that drives motor).
3. There is a short circuit and reverse polarity connection protection on all the 5V
or 12V connectors.
4. The fuses used on the board are auto reset type and.. they will automatically
reset after an overload condition is removed.

shaft.
