Relocation
Mirion Technologies (Canberra CA) Ltd. Contamination Monitors are designed to
operate in a fixed location, but can be quickly relocated as requirements change.
WARNING:
Do not move the monitor without first shutting
down the computer (using the normal Windows XP
shutdown procedure) and removing the AC mains
power cord from the unit. Failure to do so could
result in inadvertently rolling over the cord and
damaging it. This could potentially create a shock
hazard either during or after damaging the cord.
WARNING:
Do not tilt a monitor down to the floor without first
removing the removable lead ingots, which can
collectively weigh almost 1000 kg (2200 lbs).
Review of Hardware
The monitor consists of two basic components: the hardware that physically defines
the unit and the software that operates the unit. A description of the system
electronics and block diagrams / general arrangement diagrams are provided in the
Appendices.
The hardware consists of the following:
• A computer, display screen, and optional badge reader, barriers, cameras etc.
• Radiation detectors, position sensors, and associated electronics for all.
• A metal chassis to support the computer, detectors, lead, doors, keylocks and
sensors .
Computer Box
The computer comprises a single ETX form factor computer board (includes sound
chip), complete with hard drive, video drivers and Microsoft Windows 7
Embedded. The computer board plugs onto the Mirion Technologies (Canberra
CA) Ltd. Carrier Board located in the computer box. The computer box is bolted to
a support panel mounted inside the cabinet. The low voltage power supply is also
located inside the computer box. The system on/off switch along with six USB,
serial, video, (see Footnote 1 on page 2) and ports are conveniently accessed on the
