Krypton Mode

The Beta and Gamma channels use the Self Shield Factor Krypton Mode set in
the F2 – (Zone) Settings screen to account for the attenuation. The Shift+F1 –
Additional Test Menu, F2 – Optimize Self Shield Factors screen can be used to
determine appropriate self shield factors for - Krypton Mode operation.
Any Beta or Gamma channel using the default Self Shield factor of 1.0 has a
higher effective Alarm Activity due to the attenuating effect of the occupant.

The “Krypton Modebanner appears across the top of all operation screens.
This serves as a reminder that Krypton Mode self shield factors are being
used for net activity calculations.
When Krypton Mode is enabled and the unit is operating in F1 – Normal Service
any detection zone whose background exceeds its High Background rate takes the
unit Out of Service. The Out of Service screen displays the F7 Out Of Service
Instructions Suggest Krypton Mode Service Instruction message, as shown in
Figure 34 on page 68. Pressing any key brings up the Faults screen with Suggest
Krypton Mode Service Instruction message in red. Press Esc to return to the main
Service Menu and then press Shift+F1 Krypton Mode Service to enter Krypton
Mode Service. This event increments the “Suggest Krypton Mode Service” counter
in the Service History and adds a “Suggest Krypton Mode Service” event to the
Service Data Log.
When the unit is operating in Shift+F1 Krypton Mode Service, having all
detectors with a background below their High Background rate takes the unit Out of
Service. The Out of Service screen displays the F7 Out Of Service Instructions
Suggest Normal Service Instruction message, as shown in Figure 35 on page 68,
indicating that the temporary high background event has ended. Pressing any key
brings up the Faults screen with Suggest Normal Service Instruction message in
red. Press Esc to return to the main Service Menu and then press F1 – Normal
Service. This event increments the “Suggest Normal Service” counter in the Service
History and adds a “Suggest Normal Service” event to the Service Data Log.
The Self Shield Factor set in the F2 (Zone) Settings screen used for any occupant
clean/contaminated monitoring decision is recorded in the F5 – Contamination Check
Results Printout file.
