Chapter 6 Diagnostics/Maintenance

useful for sensor setup. However, for testing sensors during a routine system check,
this is a very useful screen.
The Dwell Time setting is the refresh rate for the display (set to 0.125 s). This item
is settable from 0.125 s to 60 s in increments of 0.125 s using the + and – keys only
for the Bench Test model.
Any text following the Spare # Latched switch setting reflects the use of this sensor
input as set in the F2 – Operation Configuration screen (on page 21). The phrases
“Spare # Latched” and “Latched In #” are dependent on the sensor board installed.
Note that the TB17 Spare 4 Latched…Simulate Contaminated terminal is hidden on
this screen while in Demonstration mode.
Language Selection and Language are shown only when Voice Select is set to
“switch” on F6 Operation Voice & Screen menu (on page 151) and Language is
set to “TB26 Language” on the F2 – Operation Configuration screen (on page 21).
In that case, a pushbutton or a multi-position switch connected to the Language
Selection Input terminals of the Sensor Board can be used to select the operating
language for voice and screen messages. The text following Language Selection is
either “Push Button” or “Encoded” as determined by the position of switch dipswitch
SW6-2 on the Sensor Board. This determines whether voice selection is by
pushbutton (Language Select = Push Button) that selects the next language choice or
by 8-position rotary switch (Language Select = Encoded) that selects language choice
1 to 8. Language indicates the Voice currently selected by the switch.
Note: In general, only the sensors/relays,
which are actually in used in a GEM-5, are
displayed to test here. One can use CTRL+F10 to see others, however, this may be
confusing since several other Mirion Technologies (Canberra CA) Ltd. contamination
models make use of these and many will not be applicable to the GEM-5.
The function keys are used to verify annunciator lamps and output relays as follows:
F1 = TB02-3 TB08-3 Rdy Ready Lamp: toggles the READY annunciator lamp
on and off.
F2 = TB02-2 TB08-2 Flt Fault Lamp: toggles the FAULT annunciator lamp on
and off.
F4 = TB01-2 TB07-2 Wait Lamp: activates Wait annunciator lamp on and off
to test functionality.
F5 = TB03 Relay #1: activates Relay #1 to test functionality. Before testing,
warn any remote location that a test is being performed (this is only applicable if
remote connection to the relay in question has been established; normally the
relays are considered local use relays). The relay alarm function is set in the F5
Configuration screen (on page 148) and will alarm for “Contamination”,
“Fault”, “Clean”, “Ready”, “In-Operation”, or some combination thereof, or
“None” (default), depending on its setting.
F6 = TB04 Relay #2; same as Relay #1 above.
