Model Selection and Configuration
Gem-5 User’s Manual 21
The F4 – Access Configuration screen provides settings to map sensor terminal
blocks to access control functions.
Monitor Width ## cm: This is the portal opening width or inner width of a GEM-5.
Range is 61 cm to 122 cm, (24” to 48”) default is (standard) 61 cm (24”). When set
greater than 61 then “W##” is appended to the model name (where ## is the width in
cm). Please note that as of this writing, the only widths available are 61 cm (24”), 80
cm (31.5”), 93 cm (36.6”) and 100 cm (39.4”). This setting also affects the default
calibration distance (by taking ##÷3 as the default calibration distance) on the F3 –
Calibration screen.
Two Step Only: Default is “NO”. Selecting “YES” invalidates detectors 5, 6, 7, and
8 and forces Monitor Steps to “Two-Step” in the F5 – Configuration setup screen.
This enables operation with only four detectors installed.
Gamma Detection Mode: Always Channel (3) for GEM-5.
Demonstration: Choices are “NO” (default) and “YES”. See Appendices for details.
Simulator: Choices are “NO” (default) and “YES”. See Appendices for details. Set
to “YES” only if unit is a simulator model.
Note: Demonstration mode takes precedence over Simulator mode when
determining banner and folder names.
Have Program Start Clear All Faults: When the Monitor program starts it loads the
D:\MonitorProgram\TEMPDATA file d_status.df, which restores previously
known detector errors. If set to NO (default), the monitor immediately goes out of
service if it was out of service when the program was shut down. If set to YES the
errors are cleared when the Monitor program starts. It will go out of service again if
any faults are detected during initialization.
Allow Conditional Service: Choices are “YES” (default) and “NO”. This item
specifies whether the unit is permitted to operate with one or more detectors in
conditional service. Setting “NO” forces Conditional Service Allowed to 0 Days and
prevents it from being changed on the F4 – Out of Service Causes screen.
Krypton Mode Support: Set to YES to allow access to the Enable Krypton Mode
line item on the F1 – Common Values screen. Krypton mode offers features that
allow the monitor to operate in an environment that periodically experiences high
background conditions, such as when Krypton or other radioactive gas is present.
Detector 01 - 08 Installed: Page 2 of Model Selection screen, this item specifies
which detector is being installed or none.
