resolve a potentially contaminated result. Refer to “Extend Count If Contaminated”
in the F1 – Common Values screen.
Position 1(Monitor) Abort/ Position 2 (Recount) Abort: These counters show the
number of occupants who exited without completing a full monitor cycle. If this
number is large, it suggests that occupants do not understand the importance of
monitoring or are having difficulty using the monitor. A training program on use of
the monitor and health physics in general might be required. The Monitor Mode
value minus (Position 1/Monitor Abort + Position 2/Recount Abort) should equal the
number of occupants who completed a full monitoring cycle on the unit.
Note: Position 2 normally only applieswhile operating in the Two-Step mode.
For the GEM-5 (in One-Step or Walk-Through modes), Page 1 (overview) hides
unused “Recount Clean”, “Recount Contaminated”, “Recount Extended Count”, and
“Recount Abort” event counts and Page 2 (zones) hides unused Recount columns.
Alarm Test: This counter increments each time the Alarm Test key lock switch is
changed from NORMAL to ALARM TEST to perform an Alarm Test. See Alarm
Test on page 69.
Coverage Test: This counter increments each time the Alarm Test key lock switch is
changed from NORMAL to COVERAGE TEST to perform a Coverage Test.
Verification Test: This counter increments each time the Alarm Test key lock switch
is changed from NORMAL to VERIFICATION TEST to perform an Verification
Test.
Cold Side Sequence: This counts the Cold to Hot monitoring cycles. The Clean,
Contaminated, and Aborted counts all count both “Hot to Cold” and “Cold to Hot”.
Refer to F4 – Access Configuration on page 28.
Manual Stop Measurement: This counts the number of times a count was manually
aborted via the Manual Stop Measurement – Input switch (see F4 – Access
Configuration on page 28).
Monitor History Page 2: This screen, as shown in Figure 110, provides the number
of Clean and Contaminated results for monitoring Positions 1 and 2 (or Monitor and
Recount) for each zone individually. This information could assist in determining a
potential source of contamination. To control the contamination most effectively, it
is also necessary to know which occupants are being contaminated.
Ctrl+F4 = Clear History: At the discretion of the service support group, this history
may be kept for the life of the unit or may be reset periodically using the Ctrl+F4 key,
thus setting counters to zero and setting the “From...” time to the current time. This
is the only time the “From …” date/time is changed. To prevent unauthorized or
accidental use, a password must be entered to use this function if Enable Access
Level Control: is set to “YES” and the Level 2 or 3 Password is set in the F6 – Access
Level Settings screen (on page 37).
