Chapter 7 Retrieving Information

• Shift+Up arrow and Shift+Down Arrow control minimum value on vertical
scale.
• Space key auto scales and then toggles between auto vertical scale maximum
value and both minimum and maximum values and is intended for higher
gamma count rates.
• Maximum vertical scale is 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 etc.
• A gray vertical line is used to mark where the oldest rate in the running
average is. Values to the right of this line are in the current average.
• CTRL+HOME display Detector 1.
• The “All” (background) sum zone is available (Ctrl+End).
• The number of background values available for average is 1080.
F4 = Show ±K∆ shows actual values used when tested during background update.
This would be of particular importance for lower limit below the average.
Various values are plotted as connected lines instead of individual points so they are
easier to see. The line is reset when background average is reset.
The Ctrl+F4 key (Clear All Background History) on this screen is especially
powerful in that it clears the Gamma background history data for all zones. As a
result, every detection zone will begin a new average background history on returning
to service.
F10 toggles between “Show Clock Time” which change x-axis label to Bin Time (s)
and “Show Bin Time” and change x-axis label to Clock Time (s).
The various lines on the display are color-coded as follows:
GRAY = Updates used in the current average are shown horizontally at the top of
the graph.
CYAN = Background Rate over one update period, shown as vertical bars. Only
the tip of each bar is shown and appears as a single point.
BROWN = Average Background Rate (moving average). This is the background
rate averaged over the Background Average Period (default = 300 s). This line is
not visible if the Occupied Self Shield Factor = 1 (see Yellow line).
YELLOW = Effective Average Background Rate, i.e. the Average Background
Rate (Brown Line) times the Occupied Self Shield Factor. Refer to Self Shield
Factor item under F2 – (Zone) Settings on page 116.
DARK RED = Low Background Rate set point (not applicable for sum zones).
This is a constant value unless the set point was changed during the period, in
which case there would be a step change.
