9. Press the GAIN key ( ), and then increase the gain until the signal extends
across most of the screen (see Figure 5-96 on page 189).

10. Press the FREEZE key ( ) to unfreeze the acquisition, and then press the FULL
NEXT key ( ) to toggle to full-screen mode.
11. Scan the standard’s tapered area, and observe the thickness curve (see Figure 5-96
on page 189).
