Remove Detector Assembly from Monitor
Unscrew the six fasteners (three on each side) that attach the detector frame to the
monitor. The detector assembly can then be removed from the unit and placed on a
workbench.
When removing the fasteners, one must hold the assembly such that it does not tip
and fall as it is fragile. Carefully remove it from the unit. Use “four” hands
23
(and
thumbs and fingers) to safely remove detector.
:
Always use proper lifting and moving techniques to
avoid stress or injury and to avoid damage.
Remove Detector Assembly Frame (if required)
Disassemble the detector frame by removing four hex bolts attaching the top (or
bottom) flat plate to the side Z-rails. The detector can be removed from the frame and
set to one side.
Re-Installation
Note: Ensure that the Detector # is set on the Gamma Board to correspond correctly
to the detector position it is installed to. See Board Settings on page 340 for
details.
Reverse the removal procedure to install the detector assembly with the new detector
into the monitor.
Note: Be particularly careful not to damage any of the black tape used to ensure the
light-tight seal. In addition, ensure that no cables are/were pinched when the
new detector(s) are (were) reinstalled.
Reapply Power
Turn the system power ON. The system should reboot but will almost immediately
go out of service since the previous detector fault has not been cleared. Press the Esc
key while the OUT-OF-SERVICE screen is displayed to bring up the “Detector
Faults” screen. Clear all Detector Errors (F2 or F4). Assuming everything is
functioning properly, on returning to service, the monitor should proceed to Initialize
Background.
Note: The High Voltage setting must be adjusted and a detector calibration must be
performed before returning the unit to normal service. Refer to the
Operations section for detailed procedures.
23
Depending on the strength of the maintenance person, removing a Detector may require a second "pair of hands" (i.e.,
another person) to manipulate it safely out of its position without dropping it.
