Chapter 2 Installation - First Use of System
30 Gem-5 User’s Manual
Cold to Hot: Choices are “No” (default), “Pass Through”, or “Monitor”. This
requires a terminal to be assigned to Cold Side Access Key - Input and/or Cold Side
Access Scanner - Input before it can be changed. The “Pass Through” setting opens
the Cold Side door when the Cold Side Access Key - Input and/or Cold Side Access
Scanner - Input contact is closed. The Cold Side door is closed when occupant is
detected inside and the Hot Side door opened. Once occupant is no longer detected,
the Hot Side door closes.
Note: If upgrading from Versions 7.04 to 7.12.1 of the software, this is implemented
when a terminal is assigned to Cold Side Access Key - Input or Cold Side
Access Scanner - Input and Cold Side Open Barrier is assigned to “After ID
Scanned”. The “Monitor” setting is same as “Pass Through” except that the
occupant is monitored using Cold Alarm Activity and Hot Side door is only
opened if “Clean”.
Also note that:
• For both sides there are default configurations available for “Turnstile”,
“Gate”, “Swing Door”, “Barrier Arm”, and “Sliding Door”.
− “Turnstile”, “Gate”, and “Swing Door” defaults assume manual
operation.
− “Barrier Arm” and “Sliding Door” defaults assume automatic operation
• These defaults are applied with F1 = Apply Hot Side Default
Configuration and F2 = Apply Cold Side Default Configuration
• Terminals specified here are labelled with Access Configuration use on the
Sensor Board Tests screen on page 205.
• Each Relay can only be used for one purpose:
− Configuration screen settings influence Access Configuration. If Sensor
Board Relay 1, Relay 2, Relay 3, Relay 4, settings are specified then the
corresponding terminals are not available for Access Configuration.
− Conversely if terminal corresponding to Sensor Board Relay 1, Relay 2,
Relay 3, Relay 4, is specified on F2 – Operation Configuration, F3 –
Badge Configuration, or F4 – Access Configuration then it's shown as
“Used by Operation/Badge/Access Configuration” on the
F5 – Configuration screen.
• If both Hot and Cold side barriers are present, then an occupied condition is
set when both Hot and Cold side barrier closed signals are active and one or
more of the position or occupied sensors are active. This occupied condition
is cleared when either Hot or Cold barrier closed signal goes inactive and all
the position and occupied sensors go inactive.
