A QFX3100 Director device can operate for a short time with a fan module removed;
however, the chassis might shut down when the high temperature threshold is exceeded
if a fan module is not available to cool the QFX3100 Director device properly.
Fan modules are hot-swappable and field-replaceable units (FRUs).

AC Power Supply in a QFX3100 Director Device
The AC power supply in a QFX3100 Director Device is a hot-insertableand hot-removable
field-replaceable unit (FRU).
You can install up to two AC power supplies in a QFX3100 Director device. Power supplies
are installed in the power supply slots on the back of the chassis. All QFX3100 Director
devices are shipped with two AC power supplies.
Each AC power supply weighs approximately 2.5 lb (1.1 kg). See Figure 15 on page 31.
