14.1 Temperature Introduction
Thermally sensitive resistors (thermistors) are used to monitor skin temperature and core temperature. It is
based on the principle that electrical resistance of the thermistor changes as temperature changes. Thermistors
measure the resistance change and use it to calculate the temperature.
The monitor measures temperatures of body surface and intracavity temperature. It can simultaneously monitor
two temperature sites, calculate and display the difference between two measured sites.
Temperature monitoring is intended for adult, pediatric and neonatal patients.
