30.2 rSO2 Safety Information
CAUTION
• rSO
2
monitoring is intended for use in individuals greater than 2.5 kg at risk for reduced-flow or no-
flow ischemic states.
• Do not use the rSO
2
value as the sole basis for making decisions regarding diagnosis or therapy
because the rSO
2
values represent a small volume of tissue beneath the sensor and may not reflect
oxygenation disturbances that occur elsewhere.
• Use only recommended or provided accessories. Use any other sensor will compromise accuracy.
• Use of an electrosurgical instrument in the vicinity of the monitor may interfere with the signal and
result in inaccurate rSO
2
measurement.
NOTE
• Environments with excessive ambient light such as bright sunlight or strong operating room
lighting may require loosely covering the area of the sensor with an opaque drape.

Measurement Limitations
If present, the following may cause inaccurate readings:
■ Cardiogreen, indigo carmine or other intravascular dyes
■ Carboxyhemoglobin or other dyshemoglobins
■ Hemoglobinopathies
■ Conjugated hyperbilirubinemia (direct)
■ Myoglobin (Mb) in muscle tissues
