1) Monitor the engine parameters for a change in the engine performance.
P. Fire Extinguisher Agent Contamination Inspection
SUBTASK 72-00-00-026-094-G00
(1) If there was a fire in the engine (external or internal), remove the engine for disassembly and
inspection.
NOTE: An engine that has had fire damage will have special inspections. For special
instructions about engine parts, contact the GE local Representative.

Q. External Exposure to Fire Extinguishing Agents (without a fire)
SUBTASK 72-00-00-116-095-G00
(1) If the engine has been exposed to fire extinguishing agents on its external surfaces, do the
steps that follow:
(a) Carbon dioxide (CO2) contamination.
1) Cold sections: Parts not exposed to heat require no maintenance action.
2) On hot sections: Parts exposed to heat at time of contamination must be removed
for inspection.
(b) Chemical foam contamination on exposed areas, rinse using clean running water.
1) Scrub to remove all foam agents.
(c) Dry chemical powder contamination.
1) Remove the engine for disassembly and cleaning (TASK 71-00-02-004-004-G00).
(d) Halogenated hydrocarbon (Halon) agent contamination, water wash all exposed areas
(TASK 72-00-00-117-030-G00).
WARNING
DO NOT BREATHE THE GAS RELEASED BY THE FLUID OR ALLOW THE
FLUID TOUCH THE SKIN. MAKE SURE THE WORK AREA HAS A GOOD
FLOW OF AIR. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THESE INSTRUCTIONS, DAMAGE
TO YOUR SKIN AND LUNGS CAN OCCUR.
(e) If the agent was used in the nacelle, you must open the left and right fan cowl panels and
the thrust reversers immediately to remove the halogen vapors
(TASK 71-11-04-712-014-G00 and TASK 78-31-00-000-801-G00).
R. Internal Exposure to Fire Extinguishing Agents (without a fire)
SUBTASK 72-00-00-116-096-G00
(1) If the engine has been exposed to fire extinguishing agents on its internal surfaces, perform
the following:
(a) Carbon dioxide (CO2) contamination.
1) Remove the engine for disassembly and cleaning (TASK 71-00-02-004-004-G00).
(b) Chemical foam contamination.
1) Dry motor the engine and flush with clean water to remove the foam residues
(TASK 71-00-00-802-136-G00).
2) Remove engine for overhaul, disassembly and cleaning
(TASK 71-00-02-004-004-G00).
