CAUTION
DO NOT LET THE POWER PLANT STAY OUT OF OPERATIONS FOR MORE
THAN 48 HOURS BEFORE YOU DO THE PROCEDURE TO DRY THE
ENGINE. CONDENSATION CAN CAUSE CORROSION DAMAGE TO THE
PARTS (BEARINGS, GEARS, ETC.) THAT GET LUBRICATED. IF YOU DO NOT
OBEY THIS PROCEDURE, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THESE ENGINE
COMPONENTS.
(4) If there was an in-flight shutdown, and the engine will not be operated for more than 48 hours
after landing; do the steps to dry out the engine (TASK 71-00-03-862-021-G00).
NOTE: The drying/lubricating effect of engine operation at ground idle (for 3 minutes) is the
same as the ten day preservation procedure.
K. Stall Inspection
SUBTASK 72-00-00-216-163-G00
(1) Examine the engine inlet for FOD and the exhaust for metal particles

(2) If you find signs of a birdstrike, follow these steps before you continue:
(a) Put on the protective equipment that follows:
1) Wear protective gloves, G50140 below the usual cut-resistant gloves.
2) Use protective mask (FSP2 type) and eye protection goggles, STD-421.
3) Use coverall (approved cotton substitute), STD-1129.
(b) Remove and put the remains of the birdstrike in a hermetically sealed plastic bag,
G00624.
(c) Clean the area of the birdstrike as follows:
1) Moisten an absorbent, lint-free cloth, G02383 [OMat 2/101] with isopropyl alcohol,
B01056 [P11-014A].
2) Clean area with absorbent, lint-free cloth, G02383 [OMat 2/101].
3) Keep gloves away from your face, eyes and nose.
4) Remove and put the gloves and disposable coverall into the hermetically sealed
plastic bag, G00624.
(d) Wash your hands with soap and water.

(3) Remove the magnetic probe from the master chip detector and examine the magnetic probe
for metal flakes (TASK 79-21-05-002-002-G00).

(4) Examine all the VSV actuator hardware for damage (TASK 75-31-02-206-005-G00).
NOTE: The hardware that follows is the most easily damaged.
(a) VSV Lever Arms
(b) Actuation Rings and Connector Links
(c) Pushrods
(d) Actuation Ring Spacers and Clearance
(e) VSV Actuator Mount Bracket
(f) VSV Actuation Lever Bracket.
