C. Procedure

(1) Do the steps that follow to prepare for the repair:
(a) Remove the seized fan blade or blades (PAGEBLOCK 72-31-02/401).
(b) Examine the blade or blades (PAGEBLOCK 72-31-02/601).
1) Do the steps to repair the blade (or blades) if it is necessary.

(2) Examine the abradable shroud material on the forward fan case (PAGEBLOCK 72-33-04/601).

(3) Repair the lower half of the fan case shroud (between the 3 and 9 o'clock positions) as follows:
(a) Blend the damage (the distortion looks like steps) in the area of the blade trailing edge.
1) Use a fine file, an abrasive cloth, or an abrasive stone to do the blend repair.
2) Lightly blend the damage in a forward to aft direction.
3) Blend at least 0.60 inch (15.2 mm) and not more than 0.75 inch (19.1 mm) from the
edge of the damage.

(4) Do the steps that follow to put the engine in its usual condition:
(a) Install the fan blade (or blades) that were removed (PAGEBLOCK 72-31-02/401).
1) Make sure the fan blades are put back in the initial positions.

(5) Do the test of the fan rotor blades that is shown in the Power-Plant Test-Reference Table
(PAGEBLOCK 71-00-00/201).
