SUBTASK 72-35-00-226-025-G00
(5) Visually examine the actuation rings (Figure 603):
Condition Maximum Serviceable Limits
Look for cracks in the sidewall adjacent to
the nuts
No limit up to 0.4 inch (10.0 mm) long in either direction circumstantially from
the centerline of the nut.
Look for cracks in both the ID wall and the
OD wall, between the nut and the end of
the ring.
Two cracks for each end, from the first nut to the end ring if the nut is tight
and will not turn.
Look for cracks in all other areas Not permitted. See the off-schedule vane inspection requirements (Par. 3).
An actuation ring is broken. Not serviceable.
SUBTASK 72-35-00-216-026-G00
(6) Visually the examine actuation ring spacers (Figure 604):
Condition Maximum Serviceable Limits
Look for spacers loose or out of correct
adjustment
Not permitted. Adjust it to get a spacer-to-casing clearances the same as M in
Fig 607. Tighten the locknut to 70-90 pound-inches (7.9-10.2 N.m).
Look for a loose nut in the actuation ring Not permitted. One spacer for each actuation ring segment can loosen until
the spacer head is against the ring. It will lock in that position and prevent
more wear of the actuation ring. A silicone RTV 106 adhesive, A01050
[C01-007] can be applied around the loose nut to make it stable in the ring
(Figure 604).
SUBTASK 72-35-00-216-027-G00
(7) Visually examine the vane lever arm pin sleeve:
Condition Maximum Serviceable Limits
Look for tears or portions that are not there Permitted (no limit)
SUBTASK 72-35-00-216-028-G00
(8) Visually the examine connector links:
Condition Maximum Serviceable Limits
Look for broken connector links Not permitted. See the off-schedule vane inspection specifications in
paragraph 3.
Look for cracked connector links (not
separated or broken)
Not permitted. Replace cracked connector link
(PAGEBLOCK 72-35-00/801)
SUBTASK 72-35-00-226-029-G00
(9) Visually examine the VSV actuation lever (Figure 605, Item 10):
(a) Do a check for spherical bearing looseness:
Condition Maximum Serviceable Limits
Make sure that
*[1]
the ball is not too loose
in the race
Looseness is permitted if it is not more than 0.010 inch (0.25 mm) along the
diameter. If it is necessary, replace the lever (PAGEBLOCK 72-35-00/801).
Make sure that the ball is not too tight in the
race
If the ball can not move freely in the race, spray the ball with sprayable air
drying lubricant, D50194 [C02-004].
Make sure that the race is in the lever Not permitted. Replace the lever (PAGEBLOCK 72-35-00/801).
*[1] There is no limit for looseness in the axial direction. The axial looseness is controlled by the radial looseness.
(b) Do a check for slot loaded bearing looseness:
