C. Procedure
SUBTASK 72-31-00-024-002-G00
(1) Remove the stage 1 fan rotor disk (Figure 401, Figure 402, Figure 403)
(a) Remove the inlet cowl (PAGEBLOCK 71-11-01/401).
(b) Remove the fan rotor spinner (PAGEBLOCK 72-31-01/401).
(c) Turn the fan rotor disk until the offset hole in the spinner bolt circle on the disk is at the 12
o'clock position.
(d) Remove the stage 1 fan rotor blades (PAGEBLOCK 72-31-02/401).
(e) Remove the No. 1 bearing manifold (PAGEBLOCK 72-31-00/201).
(f) Remove the stage 1 fan booster stator fairing (the stage 1 fairing) as follows:
1) Remove the 28 screws that attach the stage 1 fairing to the stage 2-4 fan booster
stator case (the stage 2-4 case).
NOTE: The screws attach the forward end of the outlet vane fairings and go into
the threaded bosses in the stage 2-4 case.
2) Matchmark the fairing to the stage 1 vanes and stage 1 stator case.
NOTE: You can use heating element, SPL-6797, to help in removal of the fairing if
necessary.
3) Move the fairing forward and release it from the stage 1 vane leading edge platform.
4) Remove the stage 1 fairing from the stage 2-4 case.
(g) Remove the stage 1 fan booster stator vane subassembly as follows:
1) Remove the 78 nuts, and bolts that attach the vane subassembly to the stage 1
stator case.
2) Remove the two bolts that attach the stage 1 inner shrouds together.
3) Put tape around the vane platform and remove the stage 1 vane/inner shroud
sections.
NOTE: It is recommended that you remove the top stage 1 vane/inner shroud
section first followed by the lower section.
(h) Attach lift fixture, SPL-6914, to the Adapter, SPL-13244, which you can find in Support
Stand, SPL-13245
(i) Remove the clamp from the assembly stand. Release two anti-rotation pins and remove
the lift fixture and support adapter from the stand.
(j) Put the support adapter in front of the stage 1 fan rotor disk.
(k) Install support adapter on the stage 1 fan rotor disk as follows:
NOTE: The bolt circle on the spinner has one offset hole. This hole must be positioned at
12 o' clock before you install the support adapter.
1) Use nine 3/8 inch hex head bolts to attach the stage 1 fan rotor disk to the support
adapter. These bolts attach the stage 1 fan rotor at the fan spinner bolt circle.
(l) Install the anti-torque tool (2C6834) to the fan rotor disk as follows:
