(1) Open the fan cowl panels

WARNING
DO THE THRUST REVERSER DEACTIVATION PROCEDURE TO PREVENT
THE OPERATION OF THE THRUST REVERSER. THE ACCIDENTAL
OPERATION OF THE THRUST REVERSER CAN CAUSE INJURIES TO
PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(2) Do this procedure: Thrust Reverser Deactivation for Ground Maintenance
(PAGEBLOCK 78-31-00/001 Config 1 or PAGEBLOCK 78-31-00/001 Config 2).

(3) Open the core cowl panels (PAGEBLOCK 71-11-06/201).

(4) Remove the applicable accessory part from the gearbox (Figure 401).

(5) Put a container under the drain plug on the accessory gearbox (Figure 402).

(6) Remove the drain plug.
(a) Discard the preformed packing.

(7) Lightly lubricate the new preformed packing with engine oil.

(8) Install the preformed packing on the drain plug.

(9) Install the drain plug on the accessory gearbox.
(a) Tighten the plug to 270-300 pound-inches (30.5-33.9 newton-meters).
(b) Install lockwire.

(10) Remove the brackets and tube clamps as necessary.
