DO NOT INCREASE THE SPEED OF THE ENGINE TO MORE THAN TAKEOFF
POWER FOR THE CURRENT CONDITIONS. DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE CAN
OCCUR.
(2) Monitor the vibration amplitude as shown on the EICAS display (Figure 507) while the engine
is accelerated.
(a) When the vibration amplitude is more than 3.0 units, let the engine become stable for 60
seconds at the nearest of the following N1 settings:
• 3200 rpm (93.2%) or
• 3400 rpm (99.1%).
(b) If the amplitude is less than 3.0 units, let the engine become stable at 3400 rpm (99.1%).

(3) Make a record with marker, STD-7049 on a log sheet of this information: vibration amplitude
(Ux), and the N1 speed setting (rpm) (Figure 502).

(4) Use the Power Plant Operation (Normal) procedure to do the engine shut-down
(PAGEBLOCK 71-00-00/201).
F. Make a Selection of three locations to install Wt.

(1) Make a record of the type and location of all the balance screws in the spinner cone
(Figure 505).

(2) Select three locations (each location will be three adjacent holes ) on the spinner that are
approximately 123° (13 holes) apart to install Wt.
NOTE: Wt is equal to the three P06 weights. These locations must have P07 weights that will
be replaced with P06 weights.
If you cannot identify three locations with P07 weights: remove all the balance screws
and install P06 screws in the selected locations, and P07 screws in all the other
spinner holes.
Example: Selection - Spinner hole numbers
• Number 1 - 38, 1, 2
• Number 2 - 25, 26, 27
• Number 3 - 12, 13, 14

(1) Put protective mats, STD-6378 (3 required) on the bottom half of the internal inlet cowl.

(2) Do the steps that follow to install the Wt balance screws for selection number 1.
NOTE: In the example, spinner hole locations 38, 1, and 2 are used.
(a) Remove the initial balance screws from the selection number 1 spinner hole locations.
1) Make a record of the location of each of the screws that you remove.
2) Keep the screws because you will have to put them back in the same location.
