Cracks that extend from the bolt hole to
the outer edge of the flange
Two cracks in each flange are permitted, if they are not in adjacent holes.
Cracks in other areas of the flange Not permitted.
Nicks, scores and scratches Remove the high metal. This damage is permitted if it is less than 0.50 inch
(13.00 mm) in length, and 0.10 inch (0.25 mm) in depth. There must be a
minimum separation of 1.0 inch (25.4 mm).

(2) Visually examine the casing body for the conditions that follow:

Cracks in the parent metal Permitted, if less than 0.150 inch (3.81 mm) in length. There must be a
minimum separation of 2.0 inch (50.8 mm) between each crack.
Cracks in the welds Remove the high metal. Four cracks are permitted, if less than 0.150 inch
(3.81 mm) in length. There must be a minimum separation of 2.0 inch (50.8
mm) between each crack.
Nicks and scratches Remove the high metal. Permitted, if less than 0.10 inch (0.25 mm) in depth.
Smooth contour dents Permitted, if less than 0.125 inch (3.18 mm) in depth.
Cracks in the boss pads Five cracks are permitted in each case body, if less than 1.0 inch (25.4 mm) in
length. One crack is permitted in each case body, if it is 1.0-4.0 inch
(25.4-102.0 mm) in length.

(3) Visually examine all the threaded ports and bosses for this condition:

Damaged threads Chase the threads. A total of one full thread can be damaged.

(4) Examine the nozzle vanes for:

Cracks Permitted, one on each vane if it is less than 0.25 inch (6.4 mm) in length.
Nicks and dents Permitted, if the metal is not torn.
Burned areas/ Hot spots Permitted, if the damage is less than 1.0 square inch (6.45 square cm). There
must be two vanes that have no burns between heat damaged vanes.
Tears Permitted, if the tears are less than 0.5 inch (13.0 mm) in length. For each
stage, the total damage from tears must be less than 0.5 square inch (3.2
square cm).

(5) Examine the blades for:

Nicks Permitted, if less than 0.040 inch (1.02 mm) in depth.
