(1) Open the fan cowl panels (PAGEBLOCK 71-11-04/201).

WARNING
DO THE THRUST REVERSER DEACTIVATION PROCEDURE TO PREVENT
THE OPERATION OF THE THRUST REVERSER. THE ACCIDENTAL
OPERATION OF THE THRUST REVERSER CAN CAUSE INJURIES TO
PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(2) Do this procedure: Thrust Reverser Deactivation for Ground Maintenance
(PAGEBLOCK 78-31-00/201).

(3) Open the core cowl panels (PAGEBLOCK 71-11-06/201).

(4) Open the louvered exhaust door on the fan duct cowl and the thrust reverser.

(5) Connect the trim balance analyzer (portable engine balancing system, COM-3932 or trim
balance kit, SPL-5659) to the engine as follows:

NOTE: Use protective mats, STD-6378 if necessary
(a) Connect the wires to the connectors for the number one bearing accelerometer and the
N1 speed sensor.
(b) Find the heat exchanger on the aft firewall next to the accessory compartment of the
engine.
(c) Remove the bolts to remove the access panel to the heat exchanger.
NOTE: This access panel is not pushed out when it is removed, like the other blowout
panels on the same aft firewall.
(d) Put the wires (from the accelerometer and N1 speed sensors) aft and down through the
heat exchanger access hole into the accessory compartment of the engine.
(e) Use tape to attach the wires to the drain pipes at the bottom of the accessory
compartment.
