(1) Open the fan cowl panels (PAGEBLOCK 71-11-04/201).

DO THE THRUST REVERSER DEACTIVATION PROCEDURE TO PREVENT
THE OPERATION OF THE THRUST REVERSER. THE ACCIDENTAL

PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(2) Do this procedure: Thrust Reverser Deactivation for Ground Maintenance
(PAGEBLOCK 78-31-00/201).

(4) Remove the necessary component to get access to the oil seal:

E. Remove the oil seal

(1) Remove the nuts that hold the oil seal to the gearbox (Figure 401).

CAUTION
USE SYMMETRICAL PRESSURE TO REMOVE THE OIL SEAL. IF YOU DO
NOT, DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
(2) Install the three jackscrews, STD-6422 to remove the oil seal.
(a) Tighten each jackscrew with a symmetrical pressure.

(3) Remove the oil seal.
(a) Remove and discard the packing from the oil seal.

(4) Remove the three jackscrews.
