(c) Use a cloth that is moist with solvent to clean the perforated face sheet.
(d) Carefully examine the perforated face sheet for delamination.
1) No delamination is permitted.
(e) If there is delamination on the perforated face sheet, do the steps that follow:
1) Use a hand grinder (or a cut off disc) to cut away the delaminated layers of the
perforated face sheet.
a) Cut away approximately 1/4 inch (6.4 mm) more than the damaged material.
2) Cut adjacent to and parallel with the ridges of the honeycomb material.
3) This will cause minimum damage to the ridges that give support to the repair
material.
(f) Remove the strips of delaminated material.
(g) Use 180-240 grit sandpaper to sand the honeycomb ridges and core material, and the
perforated face sheet.
(h) Use filtered compressed air (or a vacuum) to remove the loose particles.

(i) Use a cloth that is moist with solvent, B00148 to clean the surfaces of the repair area.
NOTE: The back urethane surfaces can show marks after you clean.
1) Make sure to clean under the leading edges of the acoustical liner also.
(j) Let the area become fully dry.
NOTE: Use the heating element, SPL-6797 if needed.
F. Repair the Acoustical Liner

(1) Put a piece of wax paper (plastic film or aluminum foil) on the repair area to protect the back
face sheet.

(2) Mix the microballoon material (abradable seal material, A00949 [C01-060]).
NOTE: Mix only as much material as you will use. Refer to the set-up time of the microballoon
material.

(3) Do the steps that follow to do the repair:
(a) Apply the microballoon material to the repair area.
