(a) Clean the mating surface of the fan case with a cloth moist with solvent, B00148.
1) Rub the surface dry with a clean cloth.
(b) Apply the packing ribbon to the inner diameter of the mating surface of the fan case
(Figure 401).
1) The polysulfide potting compound, A50365 [C01-013] must extend the full length of
the mating surface and be in a circumferential direction.
(c) Use the scissors, STD-761 to cut the plastic sheeting, G50305 (0.003-0.006 inch
(0.08-0.15 mm) thick, or equivalent) to the acoustical liner dimensions.
(d) Cut notches where the bolt holes will be.
(e) Apply the polyethylene to the fan case (use a constant pressure).

(3) Install the liner as follows:
(a) Make sure all the mating surfaces are clean and without deterioration.
(b) Apply a thin layer of Esnalube 382 compound, D00031 [P06-038] to the retainer screw
threads.
(c) Apply a thin coat of lubricant (petroleum jelly, D50223 [C02-008]) to the key wedges at
the forward end of the liners.

correctly. Use a power motor with an abrasive sanding disc to remove the
bumper material.
(e) Apply a continuous forward force on the liners until the bushings align with the bolt holes
in the case.
(f) Tighten the retainer screws to 55-70 pound-inches (6.2-7.9 newton meters).
(g) Tighten the screws in the center of the liner first, then work to the ends of the liner.
(h) Apply the silicone RTV Silicone Elastomer adhesive, A50311 [C01-006] or RTV 108
adhesive, A00944 [C01-056] (black or clear) to the areas around the liner.
