4. External Engine Inspection
A. General
(1) This procedure gives instructions to examine the hoses, tube assemblies, brackets, and
clamps on the external areas of the engine.
B. Tools/Equipment
NOTE: When more than one tool part number is listed under the same "Reference" number, the
tools shown are alternates to each other within the same airplane series. Tool part numbers
that are replaced or non-procurable are preceded by "Opt:", which stands for Optional.

D. Visual Inspection of the Hoses and Tubes

(1) Examine the hoses and tubes.
(a) Examine the tubes for the conditions that follow:
CONDITION MAXIMUM SERVICEABLE LIMIT
Splits, cracks or kinks. Not permitted. Replace the tube.
Dents or flat areas Permitted, if the damage contour is not more than 20 %
different from the initial contour. If it is necessary, replace
the tube.
Nicks or scores in the straight section of the tube Permitted, if the depth of the damage is less than 0.005
inch (0.13 mm). If it is necessary, replace the tube.
Nicks or scores in the bent section of the tube Not permitted. Replace the tube.
Leakage Not permitted. Replace the tube.

(2) Examine the tube wear pads for the condition that follows:
CONDITION MAXIMUM SERVICEABLE LIMITS
Cracks in pad-to-tube braze Permitted, if the pad is still in the correct position (attached
to the tube).

(3) Examine the tube seating surfaces for the conditions that follow (Figure 628):
CONDITION MAXIMUM SERVICEABLE LIMITS
Circumferential scratches on areas "A" and "C" Permitted. Remove the high metal.
