the N2 rotor.
(b) When you locate a nicked blade, lock the N2 rotor in position.

(2) Repair the blade as follows:
(a) Remove the nick from the blade leading edge in the longitudinal direction only (parallel
with the length of the blade).
(b) Use a abrasive, B00138 or an pumice abrasive, B00166 to make the surface smooth.
(c) The surface finish after the repair must be equivalent to the original contour.
(d) The length of a smooth area should be a minimum of 16 times the depth of the damage.
(e) If two or more smoothed areas overlap, remove the high metal at the overlap to prevent a
stress concentration.
(f) The leading and trailing edge radius of the nick repair area must be equivalent to the
original contour.

2) Tighten the nuts to 33-37 pound-inches (3.7-4.2 Newton meters).
(c) Attach the bypass valve bellcrank to the unison ring with a bolt.
1) Tighten the bolt to 190-230 pound-inches (21.5-26.0 Newton meters).
(d) Assemble the bypass valve bellcrank, with the rod-end bearing to the VBV.
(e) Use a spray gun to put a thin layer of release agent compound on the part of the VBV
that touches the fan frame.
CAUTION
DO NOT PERMIT THE BEARING TO MOVE WHEN YOU INSTALL THE
BOLT. IF YOU PERMIT THE BEARING TO MOVE, THE BLEED VALVE
CAN BECOME OUT OF ADJUSTMENT.
