ENGINE - INSPECTION/CHECK
1. General
A. This procedure has these tasks:
(1) Borescope Inspection
(2) Unusual Condition Inspection
(3) External Engine Inspection
(4) Continued-in-operation limits
(5) Fan (N1) overspeed inspection
(6) Core engine (N2) overspeed inspection
(7) Overtemperature inspection
(8) No oil pressure inspection
(9) Stall inspection
(10) Fan blade shingling inspection
(11) Oil system contamination inspection
(12) FOD inspection
(13) Volcanic ash/sand ingestion inspection
(14) Fire extinguishing agent contamination inspection
(15) External exposure to fire extinguishing agents (without a fire) inspection
(16) Internal exposure to fire extinguishing agents (without a fire) inspection
(17) Fan outlet guide vane (OGV) inspection
(18) Ice damage on the forward fan case inspetion
(19) Air system failure inspection
(20) Radiographic Engine Inspection
(21) Ultrasonic Inspection
(22) Inspection of Engines Involved in Accidents or Incidents
(23) Combustion section inspection (scheduled maintenance requirement)
(24) High pressure turbine inspection (scheduled maintenance requirement).
B. The maintenance of the engine makes it necessary to do inspection checks at intervals. The
inspection requirements and limits throughout this manual are based on operation within specified
limits. In addition to the regular inspections, there are those necessary when the engine has been
operated outside of the specified limits (for example, overspeed or overtemperature). There are also
special inspections necessary for engines to which unusual conditions are applied. These include
aircraft accidents and incidents specified in ICAO Annex 13. Also included are other unusual
incidents such as a hangar or ramp fire, or an accident during engine transport, handling or storage.
This procedure gives the inspection checks necessary after an overlimit operation and the special
inspection checks necessary for engines exposed to unusual conditions.

2. Borescope Inspection
A. General
(1) This task gives instructions to examine the internal areas of the engine (along the flow of the
primary airstream).
