frame.

(1) Open the fan cowl panels (PAGEBLOCK 71-11-04/201).

CAUTION
MAKE SURE THAT OBJECTS DO NOT FALL THROUGH THE OPEN VALVES
INTO THE ENGINE. DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE CAN OCCUR.
(2) Examine the forward fan case for the conditions that follow (Figure 601):
CONDITION MAXIMUM SERVICEABLE LIMIT
Cracks One in ten bolt holes are permitted to have one crack, if it is less than 0.030 inch
(7.6 mm) in length. No cracks are permitted in any other areas.
Nicks and scratches Permitted, if they are less than 0.10 inch (2.5 mm) in depth (after the high metal
has been removed). There must be more than 1.0 inch (25.4 mm) between each
nick and scratch.
Dents Permitted, if they are smooth and less than 0.20 inch (5.00 mm) in depth.
Loose rivets and nuts Not permitted. Tighten the loose rivets and nuts. Replace the rivets and nuts that
are gone.
