(Continued)
Condition Maximum Serviceable Limit
Burns, tears dents, and material that is
gone
Permitted, if the total damage area is less than 6.0 square inches (39 square
cm) on each assembly. Each airfoil can have 1.5 square inches (10 square cm)
of damaged material. Refer to the Continue-In-Operation Limits.
SUBTASK 72-00-00-296-034-G00
(8) Use the borescope to examine all the areas of the vane airfoil on the 1st-stage HPT nozzle for
the conditions that follow:
Condition Maximum Serviceable Limit
Craze cracks Permitted.
NOTE: Craze cracks are surface cracks that do not go fully through the coat.
Nicks, scores, scratches and dents Permitted.
Metal splatter Permitted.
SUBTASK 72-00-00-296-035-G00
(9) Use the borescope to examine the inner and the outer platform on the 1st-stage HPT nozzle
for the conditions that follow:
Condition Maximum Serviceable Limit
Cracks in the parent metal This type of damage is permitted without a quantity limit, if no material is gone.
Refer to the Continue-In-Operation Limits.
Nicks, scores, scratches and dents on
the platform surface
Permitted.
Burns and erosion Permitted, if the burns are not fully through the platform. Refer to the
Continue-In-Operation Limits.
Bulges or bowing Not Permitted. Refer to the Continue-In-Operation Limits.
SUBTASK 72-00-00-296-036-G00
(10) Use the borescope to examine the first-stage shroud on the HPT nozzle for the conditions that
follow (Figure 612):
Condition Maximum Serviceable Limit
Axial cracks Permitted without a quantity limit, if the cracks are less than 0.250 inch (6.35 mm)
in length. Four cracks in each segment are permitted if the cracks are less than
1.00 inch (25.4 mm). One crack in each segment is permitted to go all the way
across the segment, if it is at least 0.125 inch (3.18 mm) away from the other
cracks. Refer to the Continue-In-Operation Limits.
Circum- ferential cracks Permitted, if they are less than 0.37 inch (9.53 mm) in length and less than 0.125
inch (3.18 mm) apart. Refer to the Continue-In-Operation Limits.
Two cracks that are connected Permitted, if the cracks are in the limits for the axial and circumferential cracks.
More than two connected cracks are not permitted. Refer to the
Continue-In-Operation Limits.
Material that is gone (Fig. 610,
24-piece segment shroud only)
Permitted, if the dimension of A is less than 0.100 inch (2.54 mm), and the
dimension of B is less than 1.50 inch (38.1 mm). Material can be gone from each
end of the segment, but must not go into the seal slots. Refer to the
Over-Serviciable-Limit Extensions in this section.
