E. Procedure
SUBTASK 72-61-02-434-017-G00
(1) Do the steps that follow to install the mating ring:
(a) Apply a light layer of oil, D00068 to the new packing.
(b) Install the packing on the new mating ring.
(c) Use the installation tool from the list that follows to install the mating ring:

(d) Use the installation tool to hold the outer diameter of the mating ring.
(e) Insert the installation tool into the gearshaft until it touches the inner race of the bearing.
CAUTION
MAKE SURE THAT THE TANGS ON THE MATING RING ENGAGE WITH
THE SLOTS IN THE INNER BEARING RACE. IF THEY DO NOT, DAMAGE
TO THE EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
(f) Turn the installation tool until the tangs of the mating ring engage the slots in the bearing
inner race.
