1) The clearance must be 0.001-0.047 inch (0.03-1.19 mm).
(f) Do a check of the axial clearance between the aft edge of the 1st-stage inner shroud and
the forward edge of the 2nd-stage blade platform.
1) The clearance must be at least 0.169-0.352 inch (4.29-8.94 mm).
(g) If necessary, adjust the inner shroud and the 1st-stage stator vane until the clearance
dimensions are correct.
(h) Tighten the nuts to 110-140 pound-inches (12.4-15.8 newton meters).

(3) Do the steps that follow to install the fairing:
(a) Use the heating element, SPL-6797 to apply heat at 150°-200°F (65-43°C), to the fairing.
(b) Lightly lubricate the forward lip of the 1st-stage vanes with sandstrom 26A.
1) Make sure the lubricant does not go on the other vanes.
(c) Put on heat protective gloves, STD-1181.
(d) Install the fairing on top of the 1st-stage stator vane and below the leading edge of the
OGV's.
(e) Align the holes in the fairing with the captive nuts on the 1st-stage case.
(f) Lightly hit the fairing with a soft mallet to make sure it is engaged.
(g) Install the screws to hold the fairing to the 1st-stage outer shroud.
1) Tighten to 55-70 pound-inches (6.2-7.9 newton meters).
F. Put the Airplane to its Usual Condition

(1) Install the fan rotor blades (PAGEBLOCK 72-31-02/401).

(2) Install the fan rotor spinner (PAGEBLOCK 72-31-01/401).
