(b) Divide the totals by 38.
(c) Subtract the minimum clearance from this value.
(d) The total is the average rotor runout.
SUBTASK 72-31-02-974-025-G00
(9) Calculate the average clearance for E12 and E13 as follows:
(a) Install the runout fixture, SPL-12873 and the holding fixture on the longest blade.
(b) Put the dial indicator at the E12 (or E13) location.
(c) Set the dial indicator to the clearance you measured at the 6 o'clock position.
(d) Use the micrometer, STD-595 to measure and make a record of the clearance at 12
equally spaced locations on the shroud.
(e) Remove the dial indicator.
(f) The clearance must not be less than 0.065 inch (1.65 mm) at E12 and 0.075 inch (1.91
mm) at E13.
(g) Add the 12 clearance dimensions.
(h) Divide the total by 12.
(i) Add the average rotor runout to calculate the average clearance.
(j) The average clearance at E12 must be less than 0.125 inch (3.17 mm).
(k) The average clearance at E13 must be less than 0.135 inch (3.43 mm).
SUBTASK 72-31-02-324-030-G00
(10) If the clearance dimensions are not correct, do the procedure to repair the fan case shroud
(PAGEBLOCK 72-33-04/801).
J. Put the Airplane to its Usual Condition
SUBTASK 72-31-02-414-026-G00
(1) Install the fan rotor spinner (PAGEBLOCK 72-31-01/401).
SUBTASK 72-31-02-944-027-G00
(2) Remove the protective mat, STD-6378 from the inlet cowl.
SUBTASK 72-31-02-714-029-G00
(3) If you think the fan is not balanced because of maintenance actions, do the test of the fan rotor
blades that is shown in the Power-Plant Test-Reference Table (PAGEBLOCK 71-00-00/501).
(a) If the test shows too much engine vibration, do the trim balance procedure
(PAGEBLOCK 72-31-00/501).
