PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
(4) Open the thrust reversers (PAGEBLOCK 78-31-00/201).
E. Procedure
SUBTASK 72-35-00-236-021-G00
(1) Examine possible crack areas with the inspection procedure for spot-fluorescent penetrant in
the high pressure compressor (PAGEBLOCK 70-11-06/201).
(a) If the damage is more than the maximum serviceable limits, you must replace the engine.

(2) Visually examine the compressor stator casing (Figure 601).
(a) Examine the casing exterior:
Condition Maximum Serviceable Limits
Look for nicks, gouges, and scratches
in the:
Casing skin One is permitted for each 4 square inch (26 sq cm) area if it is less than 0.015
inch (0.38 mm) in depth and 1 inch (25.4 mm) in length after you remove all the
high metal. No sharp areas are permitted.
Flanges ribs There is no limit if they are less than 0.060 inch (1.52 mm) in depth and 0.5 inch
(12.7 mm) in length with a minimum separation of 2 inches (51 mm) after you
remove the high metal.
Look for cracks in the:
Casing skin The casing skin cannot be repaired. Replace the casing skin. See the
Continue-In-Operation Limits.
Ribs The is no limit if the cracks do not extend into the casing skin. Do a blend repair
of the cracks. The maximum depth of the blend repair must be smooth with the
casing skin. The minimum serviceable blend radius must be equal to the depth.
Circumferential flanges
That extend radially outward from the
bolt holes
One crack for each bolt hole and a maximum of one hole for each flange is
permitted.
Between the bolt hole and the skin Not permitted. See the Continue-In-Operation Limits.
Horizontal flanges Not permitted.
The fillet between the aft circumferential
flanges and the horizontal flanges
Not permitted.
Condition Maximum Serviceable Limits
Look for grooves that are worn by the
actuation ring spacers
There is no limit to the grooves if less than 0.025 inch (0.64 mm) in depth
after you remove all the high metal.
Look for hot spots (discoloration) You can repair hot spots if the metal does not have cracks or crazes.
Look for bulges Not permitted, if the bulges are discolored.
