3. VSV Lever Arm (IGV thru 5th-Stage) Removal

(1) Make sure the task "Preparation for VSV Repairs" has been done.

(2) Remove the 5th-Stage VSV lever arm as follows:
(a) Remove the locknut [1] and the lever arm [3].
(b) Replace the pin sleeve [4] in the actuation ring if it is necessary.

(3) Remove the IGV thru 4th-Stage VSV lever arm as follows:
(a) Use a felt tip pen to put identification marks on the spacer [11], the tang of the vane [7],
and the outer diameter of the case.
(b) Slowly loosen the locknut [1] until half the threads are not engaged with the vane stud.
CAUTION
YOU MUST SAFETY THE VANE VERY CAREFULLY. IF THE VANE FALLS
INTO THE CASE, AN ENGINE REMOVAL IS REQUIRED TO REMOVE
THE VANE. ENGINE DAMAGE CAN OCCUR.
(c) Carefully lift the lever arm [3] and use lockwire to attach the vane [7] below the lever arm.
1) Make the lockwire tight.
(d) Remove the nut, sleeve [2], and the lever arm [3].
(e) Replace the pin sleeve [4] in the actuation ring if it is necessary.
