F. Prepare to Repair the Abradable Shroud
SUBTASK 72-33-04-948-002-G00
(1) Put the protective mats, STD-6378 (3 required) in the inlet cowl, around the area where you
will do the repair.

(2) Remove the fan rotor spinner (PAGEBLOCK 72-31-01/401).

(3) Remove the fan rotor blades (PAGEBLOCK 72-31-02/401).
NOTE: Remove only the blades necessary for access to the repair area.

(4) Use a hand scraper or a grinder to remove all the loose abradable shroud from the damaged
area.
CAUTION
BE CAREFUL NOT TO CUT THE PLASTIC FACE SHEET THAT IS BELOW
THE ABRADABLE SHROUD MATERIAL. YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO
THE PLASTIC FACE SHEET.
(a) Remove the abradable shroud to the depth of the plastic face sheet (directly below the
abradable shroud material).
1) Make straight edges (or undercut the edges) on the repair area.
2) Remove the remaining damaged material.

(5) Lightly sand the plastic face sheet with 120-grit sandpaper.
(a) Do not cause damage to the fiberglass fibers in the plastic face sheet.

(6) Use filtered compressed air to remove the loose particles.

DO NOT GET CLEANING SOLUTIONS IN YOUR MOUTH, EYES, OR ON
YOUR SKIN. DO NOT BREATHE THE FUMES. PUT ON A PROTECTIVE
SPLASH GOGGLE AND GLOVES WHEN YOU CLEAN. KEEP CLEANING
SOLUTIONS AWAY FROM SPARKS, FLAMES, AND HEAT. CLEANING
SOLUTIONS ARE POISONOUS AND FLAMMABLE, AND CAN CAUSE INJURY
TO PERSONS.
(7) Clean the repair area with solvent, B00148.
G. Replace the Honeycomb and the Fiberglass (if it is necessary)
NOTE: If these materials have a damage area that is more than 35 square inches (226 square cm),
you must do the repair.

(1) Prepare the materials as follows:
(a) Use a hand scraper or a grinder to remove all the loose material from the damaged area.
