C-SUMP COVER - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
1. General
A. This procedure gives instructions to remove and install the insulation blanket, C-sump cover, and the
oil slinger from the turbine rear frame.
B. This procedure is referenced by the A- and C-Sump Vent Inspection (PAGEBLOCK 72-00-00/601).

(1) Remove the turbine exhaust plug (PAGEBLOCK 78-11-02/401).

(2) Remove nut [7] and bolt [6] that attach loop clamp [8] and C-sump oil supply line [9] to bracket
[3] (Figure 401 or Figure 402 or Figure 403).

(3) Remove the bracket [3], thermal shield [5], insulation blanket [10], carbon seal housing [11],
flame arrestor [2], oil slinger [14], and center vent tube [15] (Figure 401 or Figure 402 or
Figure 403).
WARNING
DO NOT TOUCH INSULATION BLANKETS WITHOUT GLOVES OR
SPECIAL EQUIPMENT. THE INSULATION BLANKETS CAN CONTAIN
CERAMIC FIBERS THAT CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO YOUR SKIN, EYES,
AND LUNGS. IF YOU DO NOT USE SKIN, EYE, AND LUNG
PROTECTION, YOU CAN CAUSE INJURIES TO PERSONNEL.
(a) Remove the eight nuts [4] that attach bracket [3], thermal shield [5], insulation blanket
[10], and carbon seal housing [11] to the aft sump housing.
(b) Remove the bracket [3], thermal shield [5], insulation blanket [10], and carbon seal
housing [11].
(c) Remove the seven nuts [17] that attach the oil slinger [14] and center vent tube [15] to
the No. 6 bearing spanner nut.
(d) Remove the retainer ring [1] and flame arrestor [2] from the center vent tube [15].
(e) Remove the oil slinger [14] and center vent tube [15].
