(2) Open the right thrust reverser (PAGEBLOCK 78-31-00/201).

(3) Remove the plug from borescope port B1-6 (Figure 203).

(4) Put the intrinsically safe borescope, COM-5661 into port B1-6 to look aft at the 7th-stage
compressor rotor blades.
(a) Install the borescope caution streamer, SPL-6917 as necessary.

(5) Do the task to pneumatically turn the engine.
NOTE: Use engine core motoring adapter, SPL-12856 and fixture - engine rotation borescope,
SPL-6363.
(a) Turn the N2 rotor in a counterclockwise direction until the first locking-lug comes into view
while you look in the borescope.
NOTE: The Stage 7 compressor rotor blades turn clockwise when seen through the
borescope.

(6) Continue to turn the N2 rotor until the second locking-lug comes into view (this is 2 blades after
the first locking-lug).

(7) Slowly turn the N2 rotor until the leading edge of the subsequent blade is in a line (as you look
through the borescope) with the leading edge of the 7th-stage compressor stator blade.
(a) This is blade number 1.
(b) Blade number 2 appears next.

(8) Put the pointer on the fixture - engine rotation borescope, SPL-6363 protractor to the zero
degree point.
NOTE: You have identified the zero degree point for the N2 rotor. The zero degree point can
be used for all stages of the high pressure compressor and two stages of the high
pressure turbine rotor. When you do an inspection of the blades of each stage, you
must start with the N2 rotor positioned back to the zero degree point.

(9) Continue the procedure as necessary.
(a) Stop the procedure at 344 degrees, and set the pointer back to zero degree.
NOTE: You must set the pointer back to zero degree after one complete (265 degree)
turn of the N2 rotor. This is because of the gear ratio differences between the
accessory gearbox and the N2 rotor.

(10) Install the plug in borescope port B1-6.
(a) Tighten the plug to 40-60 pound-inches (4.5-6.8 N.m).
