CAUTION
YOU MUST PUT AN IDENTIFICATION MARK ON ALL THE REMOVED PARTS.
DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE CAN OCCUR IF THE PARTS ARE NOT PUT BACK
IN THE CORRECT LOCATION.
(3) Use the marker, STD-7049 to put position identification numbers on the fan rotor blades,
retainers, spacers and the disk (Figure 401).

(4) Do the steps that follow to remove the fan rotor blade [6]:
(a) Use preload tool, SPL-6387.
(b) Remove the bolt [1] from the No. 1 dovetail slot on the disk.
(c) If it is necessary, remove the balance weights [2].
(d) Use the extractor tool, SPL-5662 to remove the key [5].
(e) Remove the tools.
(f) Hold the fan rotor blade to the radially outer direction, and remove the spacer [4] and the
retainer [3].
(g) Move the fan rotor blade to the radially inner direction to disengage the midspan shroud.
NOTE: If you remove only one blade, first remove the retainer, spacer, and the key from
the adjacent blades. This will give more space to disengage the midspan shroud.
(h) Remove the fan rotor blade from the disk.

(i) Remove the shim from the fan blade.

(5) Put the fan rotor blade in the storage container.

(6) If you have to remove more fan rotor blades, do again the steps to remove the fan rotor blade.
