(1) Open the fan cowl panels (PAGEBLOCK 71-11-04/201).

DO THE THRUST REVERSER DEACTIVATION PROCEDURE TO PREVENT
THE OPERATION OF THE THRUST REVERSER. THE ACCIDENTAL
OPERATION OF THE THRUST REVERSER CAN CAUSE INJURIES TO
PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(2) Do this procedure: Thrust Reverser Deactivation for Ground Maintenance
(PAGEBLOCK 78-31-00/201).

(3) Open the core cowl panels (PAGEBLOCK 71-11-06/201).

(4) Open the louvered exhaust door on the fan duct cowl and the thrust reverser.

(5) Connect the portable engine balancing system, COM-3932 or trim balance kit, SPL-5659 to the
engine as follows (Figure 501):
(a) Connect the wires to the connector for the number one bearing accelerometer and the N1
speed connector.
(b) Find the heat exchanger on the aft firewall next to the accessory compartment of the
engine.
(c) Remove the bolts and remove the access panel to the heat exchanger.
NOTE: This access panel is not pushed out when it is removed, like the other blowout
panels on the same aft firewall.
(d) Put the wires (from the accelerometer and the N1 speed sensor) aft and down through
the heat exchanger access hole into the accessory compartment of the engine.
