Condition Maximum Serviceable Limit
Cracks Not permitted.
Nicks and dents Not permitted, if less than 0.500 inch (12.70 mm) from the platform. Permitted in
the other areas.
Tears and material that is gone Not permitted. A vent-slot repair that shows a scalloped area at the vent slot (Fig.
612) is permitted.
(d) Examine the tip area of the rotor blades on the 2nd-stage HPT for the conditions that
follow:
Condition Maximum Serviceable Limit
Bent or curled blade tips Permitted.
Tears and metal that is gone from both
tip walls.
Permitted, any amount from both tip walls up to five blades in the set.
Remaining blades may have any amount if the opposite tip wall is intact. The tip
caps and tip cavity shelf must not show. Refer to the
Continue-In-Operation-Limits.
Tears or metal that is gone from one tip
wall.
Permitted, any amount from one tip wall if the opposite tip wall is intact. Refer to
the Continue-In-Operation-Limits
Radial cracks Permitted, if less than 0.750 inch (19.05 mm) in length.
Axial cracks Permitted if less than 0.500 inch (12.7 mm) in length.
(e) Examine all the airfoil surfaces on the rotor blades for the 2nd-stage HPT for the
condition that follows:

Coating that is gone Permitted.
(f) Examine the platforms of the rotor blades on the 2nd-stage HPT for the conditions that
follow:

Bowing Permitted, if there are no cracks. The amount the platform is not aligned must be
less than the amount of the platform thickness. Refer to the Continue-In-Operation
Limits.
Radial cracks into the root radius on
the convex platform
Permitted, if they do not go into the airfoil.

(13) Use the borescope to examine the 2nd-stage high pressure turbine (HPT) nozzle (Figure 615).
NOTE: This inspection is only for the areas that are adjacent to the borescope port. The limits
are for those areas that you can see.
(a) Examine the external areas of the HPT case for the conditions that follow:
Condition Maximum Serviceable Limit
Surface cracks Not Permitted.
Bulges and dents Three bulges or dents, 0.50 inch (13 mm) in diameter x 0.12 inch (3.0 mm) in depth
are permitted. No high metal is permitted on the flange mating surface. Refer to the
Continue-In-Operation Limits.
