Make sure that

in the race
Looseness is permitted if it is not more than 0.010 inch (0.25 mm) along the
diameter. If it is necessary, replace the bearing ball
(PAGEBLOCK 72-35-00/801).
Make sure that the ball is not too tight in the
race
If the ball can not move freely in the race, spray the ball with sprayable air
drying lubricant, D50194 [C02-004].
Make sure that the race is in the lever Not permitted. Replace the lever (PAGEBLOCK 72-35-00/8011).
*[1] There is no limit for looseness in the axial direction. The axial looseness is controlled by the radial looseness.

(10) Visually examine the VSV rod end bearing (Figure 605, Item 7B, and 14):

(11) Visually examine the rubber boot seal on IGV Stage 4 for dust and moisture (Figure 605, item

NOTE: Stage 5 does not have rubber boot seals.

Torn boot seal Permitted, replace the boot seal at the next engine removal or the next
engine shop visit.

(12) Visually examine the lever guide and the guide bracket (Figure 605, Item 4 and 5):
