5. VSV Outer Flanged Bushing Removal

SUBTASK 72-35-00-848-067-G00
(1) Make sure the task "Preparation for VSV Repairs" has been done.
SUBTASK 72-35-00-028-069-G00
(2) Remove the IGV through 4th-stage VSV outer flanged bushing [8] as follows:
(a) Use a marker, G02061 to put identification marks on the spacer [7], the tang of the vane
[10], and the outer diameter of the case.
(b) Slowly loosen the locknut [1] until half of the threads are not engaged with the vane stud.
CAUTION
YOU MUST SAFETY THE VANE VERY CAREFULLY. IF THE VANE FALLS
INTO THE CASE, AN ENGINE REMOVAL IS REQUIRED TO REMOVE
THE VANE. ENGINE DAMAGE CAN OCCUR.
(c) Carefully lift the lever arm [3], sleeve [2], and the spacer [7].
(d) Install lockwire to attach the vane below the spacer.
1) Make the lockwire tight.
(e) Remove the locknut [1], sleeve [2], lever arm [3], and the spacer [7].
(f) Remove the damaged outer flanged bushing [8].

(3) Remove the 5th-stage VSV outer flanged bushing [8] as follows:
(a) Use a marker, G02061 to put identification marks on the spacer [7], the tang of the vane
[10], and the outer diameter of the case.
(b) Remove the locknut [1] and the lever arm [3].
(c) Slowly loosen the jamnut [6] until the nut is aligned with the end of the vane stud.
CAUTION
YOU MUST SAFETY THE VANE VERY CAREFULLY. IF THE VANE FALLS
INTO THE CASE, AN ENGINE REMOVAL IS REQUIRED TO REMOVE
THE VANE. ENGINE DAMAGE CAN OCCUR.
(d) Carefully lift the lever arm [3], sleeve [2], and the spacer [7].
(e) Install lockwire to attach the vane [10] below the spacer.
1) Make the lockwire tight.
(f) Remove the jamnut [6], sleeve [2], lever arm [3], and the spacer [7].
