8. VSV Actuation Lever Installation

(1) Make sure the task "Preparation for VSV Repairs" has been done.

(2) Assemble the pushrod [7A], rod end bearing [7B], and the clevis [7] to the new actuation lever
[10] with the clevis bolts and nuts.
(a) Tighten the nuts to 55-70 pound-inches (6.2-7.9 newton-meters).

(3) Put the forward end of the lever [10] through the uniball of the actuator [3].

CAUTION
MAKE SURE THAT THE DEEP COUNTERBORE SIDE OF THE ACTUATION
LEVER GUIDE IS FORWARD. AN INCORRECT ASSEMBLY CAN CAUSE
ENGINE DAMAGE.
(4) Install the actuation lever guide [4] on end of the lever [10].

(5) Turn the actuation lever guide 90 degrees, and insert it into the channel of the bracket [5].

(6) Install the spacer [1] on the aft end of the actuator lever [10].
(a) Keep a minimum clearance of 0.001-0.005 inch (0.03-0.13 mm) between the spacer and
the actuation lever [10].

(7) Install the washer [2A] and the aft mount nut [2].
(a) Tighten to 190-230 pound-inches (21.5-26 newton-meters).

(8) At the 3 and 9 o'clock positions, install the rod end bearings [7B] to the connecting links [8].
(a) Tighten the IGV, 1st- and 2nd-stage bolts to 55-70 pound-inches (6.2-7.9 newton-meters).
(b) Tighten the 3rd- thru 5th-stage bolts to run-on torque plus 40-45 pound-inches (4.5-5.0
newton-meters).

(9) On the right side of the engine, attach the bellcrank to the feedback rod end bearing [13] with
the bolt, spacer, washer, nut and cotter pin.
NOTE: The feedback pushrod is on the right side on engines without GE SB 75-004.
(a) Tighten the nut to 55-85 pound-inches (6.2-9.6 newton-meters).
