16. Connecting Link Installation

A. General
(1) This procedure gives the steps necessary to install the IGV through stage 5 connecting links.

D. Procedure
SUBTASK 72-35-00-438-113-G00
(1) Install the stages IGV through 4 connecting links as follows:
NOTE: This procedure installs the stage IGV through stage 4 connecting links.
NOTE: Each connecting link is stamped with the words FWD SIDE. This side must face
forward.
(a) Install two straight pins through each connecting link.
(b) Install two sleeves through the back of each connecting link.
(c) Install the correct stage connecting link to the correct stage actuation ring upper or lower
segment as follows:
1) Apply a layer of pure nickel special compound, D50017 [C02-071] or Acheson
GP460 compound, D50043 [C02-058] or anti-seize compound, D50067 [C02-001]
to threads and washer faces of the bolts.
2) Align the actuation ring upper and lower segments with the connecting link lineup
pins. Connecting link side stamped FWD SIDE must face forward.
CAUTION
THE VANE ACTUATION ARM PINS MUST NOT ENGAGE THE
LIGHTENING POCKETS OF THE CONNECTING LINKS. DAMAGE TO
THE ENGINE COULD OCCUR.
3) Align the vane actuation arms with sleeves in connecting link. Attach the vane
actuation ring upper and lower segments to the connecting link with the four bolts
and four washers.
4) Tighten the bolts to 65-75 pound-inches (7.4 - 8.4 N.m) and lockwire.
