2) Use the cleaning mixture to clean the oil and dirt from all the surfaces that you will
seal.
3) Dry all the surfaces with clean shop air.
(b) Apply the RTV sealant (RTV Silicone Elastomer adhesive, A50311 [C01-006] or RTV 108
adhesive, A00944 [C01-056]) as follows:
NOTE: You can use a caulking gun, STD-6556 to make the RTV adhesive easier to
apply.
1) Apply a layer of RTV adhesive to the internal surface of the blade retainer and the
top surface of the retainer key.
2) Immediately remove all unwanted RTV adhesive from the dovetail slots and the
disk.
(c) Cure the RTV adhesive for a minimum of four hours at room temperature (70 - 90
degrees F (21 - 32 degrees C)).
SUBTASK 72-31-02-424-011-G00
(6) If it is necessary, do again the steps to install the fan rotor blade for the remaining blades.
SUBTASK 72-31-02-214-012-G00
(7) Look at the fan rotor blades to make sure all the blades are in the correct position.
SUBTASK 72-31-02-224-013-G00
(8) Do the steps to measure the clearance between the end of the blade and the shroud (this
procedure is after the steps to install and balance the repaired fan rotor blades).
NOTE: If you install less than ten blades, this is not necessary.
H. Install and Balance the Repaired Fan Rotor Blades
SUBTASK 72-31-02-974-014-G00
(1) Make a record of the moment weight and the classification number of the repaired blade.
NOTE: The moment weight is identified on the bottom of the blade dovetail. The classification
number is on the top forward surface of the blade platform.
SUBTASK 72-31-02-864-015-G00
(2) If it is possible, find a blade with the same classification number (or one classification number
different) from the repaired blade.
NOTE: You will install this blade 180 degrees opposite from the repaired blade. This opposite
blade will help balance the repaired blade.
(a) If this is not possible, do the steps for selection of a balance weight.
SUBTASK 72-31-02-974-017-G00
(3) If it is necessary, do the steps that follow to make a selection of the balance weight [2]:
(a) Calculate the difference between the moment weight of the initial blade and the repaired
blade.
(b) Divide this difference value by 14.00 to calculate the balance weight (in grams).
(c) Make a selection of the correct balance weight.
(d) Remove the balance weights from the blade that is directly opposite (180 degrees) from
the repaired blade.
(e) If the repaired blade is lighter than the initial blade, the balance weight will be installed on
the repaired blade.
